THE PREDICTION
Liechtenstein were defeated late on due to an own goal at home to Armenia before losing comfortably 5-0 against North Macedonia. These are a continuation of form, over a couple of years, that are closing the gap between themselves and San Marino as the worst side in Europe. However, they come up against an Iceland team that have started really badly after a poor Nations League campaign, in which they were relegated, in late-2020. A Nations League campaign that happened at the same time as they lost to Hungary in the Euro 2020 playoffs; the first tournament in six years where they didn’t qualify. Iceland have made the playoffs or more in the last four qualifying campaigns. However, a 3-0 defeat away to Germany and 2-0 defeat away to Armenia would suggest that isn’t the case this time. They should beat Liechtenstein but a low-scoring victory is likely.
