THE PREDICTION
League Two Grimsby Town have already set a record in knocking out the highest number of opponents in a higher division across a single FA Cup competition (five) and are now set to feature in their first quarter-final in the famous tournament since 1939. The Mariners have no reason to be phased by another Premier League opponent away from home after already knocking out Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium. However, in-form Brighton represent an even tougher challenge with the Seagulls enjoying a wonderful season and on the back of three wins in their last four in all competitions, including three clean sheets. Their attacking threat is significantly more potent than that of Southampton’s and it’s difficult to see Grimsby being able to shut them out over 90 minutes. Brighton certainly don’t look a team capable of throwing away a lead should they gain one here and with the players at their disposal, they’ll be looking to dominate throughout. Whilst it’s been a wonderful run for Grimsby, the expectation is it will come to an end at the quarter-final stage, with Brighton securing their place at Wembley.
