THE LOWDOWN

WOLVES

  • Wolves brushed aside Nottingham Forest 0-4 in midweek to advance into the third round of the Carabao Cup and head coach Bruno Lage will be hoping it serves his squad with an injection of confidence, having lost both their opening two Premier League games by a goal to nil.
  • Little has changed for Wolves on the injury front, with Pedro Neto and Jonny both long term absentees, whilst this match may come too soon for centre-back Willy Boly as he continues his recovery from a hamstring strain.

MAN UTD

  • Man Utd will have been hugely frustrated to slip-up away to Southampton last Sunday, drawing 1-1 away to the Saints in a game which saw them fall behind in the first half, before Mason Greenwood drew them level early on in the second half, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men failed to find a winner.
  • United have been without a number of key attacking figures since the start of the season and Marcus Rashford remains out, however the Red Devils will be hugely boosted by the availability of striker Edinson Cavani who may well slot straight into the starting line-up after a full week of training, whilst new signing Raphael Varane could come into the side for fellow centre-back Victor Lindelof.

THE PREDICTION

A reaction is expected here from Man Utd after they gave up ground on their fellow Premier League title contenders last weekend, however they won’t have it all their own way against Wolves. The likes of Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez represent serious attacking threats for the hosts and Solskjaer’s men will have to defend extremely well. United do have a strong recent record against their opponents having beaten them in three of their last four encounters in all competitions and the presence of Cavani in particular will give them a big boost going forward. Providing the visitors show more of a cutting edge in front of goal, then they should edge what is likely to be a tight affair.

Tip: MAN UTD TO WIN
