Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have endured a really difficult campaign with the German, who has been heavily praised for his rotation in recent seasons, struggling to find a consistent winning formula for The Reds.

In defence, Liverpool’s first choice back-line would include Ibrahima Konate and he has been absent for quite some time due to injury. However, the Frenchman could be in line for a return to the eleven.

Despite that, though, they remain supposedly strong with Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. Kostas Tsimikas’ poor form means Robertson is pretty much without competition, whilst an injury to Calvin Ramsay makes Alexander-Arnold pretty much untouchable in the starting line-up. Virgil van Dijk has had injuries this season, too, but remains imperative.

In midfield, Stefan Bajcetic performed well against both Everton and Newcastle United but had a hard time, as many do, against Real Madrid. He was rested for their goalless draw at Crystal Palace at the weekend and may well return to the eleven this midweek. Fabinho was also rested but he should also return to the eleven.

Darwin Nunez remains an injury doubt and will be crucial for any faded hopes that Liverpool have of springing a major surprise and come back in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie in a couple of weeks. That means Klopp is unlikely to be keen on risking the Uruguayan forward.

Both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have bolstered the squad in recent weeks by returning from injury and either one of those should be able form a part of the front three alongside the indispensable Mohamed Salah and improving Cody Gakpo.
