Mikel Arteta made a couple of changes to his starting line-up last weekend, in their 4-2 victory away at Aston Villa, but, despite eventually winning that topsy-turvy match at Villa Park, it is not expected that the Spaniard maintains the same eleven.

Last weekend, Ben White returned to the Arsenal defence at right-back, in place of Takehiro Tomiyasu. White was impressive in the attacking half but did caught out for the Villa goal. Despite that, he is expected to retain his place alongside the rest of the settled back-line which consists of Gabriel, William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Thomas Partey remains a doubt for this match but if the Ghanaian is back involved then it provides a headache for Mikel Arteta. Jorginho began to show some leadership and drive in their come from behind win last weekend, having the shot that led to Arsenal’s third goal via Emiliano Martinez’s head. Granit Xhaka, who has been excellent throughout the campaign, has shown some signs of fading in games later on, particularly against Manchester City about ten days ago.

One major change that Arteta made last weekend was to bring Leandro Trossard in for Gabriel Martinelli but the Belgian underwhelmed. Martinelli came on and did get a goal late on with Martinez out of his net and the Brazilian able to pass into an empty net.

There is a possibility that both play in this match with either one of them playing as the striker. Eddie Nketiah has performed well at times but his lack of clinical finishing has been a major theme against both Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Regardless of which two make up those three other spots in Arsenal’s attack, the two key players in their entire side remain Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Saka picked up a knock against Villa last weekend but is fine for this weekend.
