THE LOWDOWN

WEST HAM

  • West Ham return home for the first time in the Premier League since their dramatic 3-2 victory over Chelsea back on December 4th with the Hammers having since picked up just a point front their last two league games.
  • Boss David Moyes will be without Aaron Cresswell and Kurt Zouma, which will significantly weaken their defence, although Moyes is hopeful that Michail Antonio will be available following a recent bout of COVID-19.

SOUTHAMPTON

  • Southampton’s most recent Premier League game saw them draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, the sixth consecutive league fixture that has seen the Saints fail to emerge victorious, with them now sat 15th-place in the table.
  • Fraser Forster could displace Willy Caballero in goal after his return from injury, with Ralph Hassenhuttl having very few other injuries to contend with.

THE PREDICTION

An entertaining clash looks to be on the cards between these two sides with neither at their best defensively. West Ham are without a couple of key defenders and have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight league matches, whilst Southampton have shipped 14 goals across their most recent six fixtures. West Ham are expected to dominate play here and take the game to the visitors with home advantage in their favour, although Southampton will pose a big threat on the counter attack with their pace going forward. Therefore, backing both teams to score should be seriously considered in this one.

Tip: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
