THE LOWDOWN

WEST HAM

  • West Ham got back to winning ways in the Premier League last weekend, coming from behind to defeat Leeds Utd 1-2 at Elland Road, with Michail Antonio back in the side and back on the scoresheet following his suspension.
  • The Hammers have a big injury concern over right-back Vladimir Coufal, who will undergo a late fitness test ahead of this match due to a thigh problem.

BRENTFORD

  • Brentford have accrued four points from their last two Premier League games after coming from behind twice against Liverpool last time out, ultimately securing a thrilling 3-3 draw.
  • Central defender Ethan Pinnock was subbed off against the Reds due to a hip injury and is a big doubt for Brentford’s short trip to the London Stadium, with Mathias Jorgensen expected to start in Pinnock’s place should he not recover in time.

THE PREDICTION

Only three days after their Europa League clash with Rapid Wien, West Ham are back in Premier League action against by far the best performing newly promoted side so far this season. However, those who believe playing in the Europa League has an adverse effect on a team’s Premier League form will have noted West Ham’s late defeat against Man Utd last time they were in action following a Europa League match. When taking this into account, Brentford who are currently unbeaten away from home in the Premier League are expected to cause the Hammers problems and could even take control of this contest the longer it goes as West Ham possibly suffer from fatigue. After holding both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa away from home alongside their victory over Wolves at Molineux, Brentford are more than capable of picking up at least a point here and are well worth backing via the double chance market.

Tip: BRENTFORD DOUBLE CHANCE
