THE LOWDOWN
WEST HAM
- West Ham were brought down to earth with bang last weekend after being hammered 4-0 by Brighton, just one week after beating Nottingham Forest by the same scoreline at London Stadium.
- The Hammers' 0-2 Europa Conference League victory over AEK Larnaca came at a cost with Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta and Flynn Downes all suffering injuries, but David Moyes was confident that both Paqueta and Downes especially, would be still be available for the visit of Aston Villa.
ASTON VILLA
- A hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace made it consecutive Premier League victories without conceding for Aston Villa since their late defeat at the hands of Arsenal.
- Midfielder Boubacar Kamara has been ruled out for a number of weeks, which will serve as a big blow to Villa and he joins the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos on the treatment table.

THE PREDICTION
The outcome of this match is far more important from a West Ham perspective than it is for Aston Villa, but that won’t mean Unai Emery’s side won’t take this one seriously, as they showed when beating Everton at Goodison Park a fortnight ago. A lot may depend on West Ham’s fatigue levels following their Europa Conference League clash on Thursday, but they certainly have the players to hurt Villa offensively. It would be no surprise to see a high-scoring contest, so back over 2.5 goals over 90 minutes.
