THE LOWDOWN

WATFORD

  • Watford dropped to three points clear of safety in midweek following their 1-0 defeat away at West Ham, combined with Newcastle’s win over Everton as Roy Hodgson searches for his first win in charge of the Hornets.
  • Hodgson could be set for a huge boost in this one with winger Ismaila Sarr possibly set to make his long-awaited return from injury.

BRIGHTON

  • Brighton return to Premier League action for the first time since January 23rd when they drew 1-1 against Leicester, their third consecutive 1-1 draw in the top flight although most recently they were knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Tottenham.
  • After missing the FA Cup game due to a COVID-19 enforced isolation, both Leandro Trossard and Alexis Mac Allister is expected to return to the squad for this match, although both Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento remain out injured.

THE PREDICTION

Watford know that they need to start getting wins on the board and fast if they are to escape the bottom three especially with Newcastle improving significantly following their January transfer spending. However, Brighton will provide a tough examination with Graham Potter’s side notoriously difficult to beat. The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last six league matches, scoring at least once in all six of those games, however Watford can take confidence from the fact that Brighton only managed to keep a clean sheet across one of those six fixtures and with Ismaila Sarr potentially back in the fold, could pose their biggest attacking threat in many weeks. With that in mind, backing both teams to score looks the smart move with the match result capable of going either way.
