THE LOWDOWN
TOTTENHAM
- Nuno Espirito Santo’s reputation took a bit of damage as his tenure at Wolves began to fizzle out throughout the course of last season. He remains evidently capable of putting teams on the pitch that threaten the best sides and his record against Manchester City was excellent. In two seasons in the Premier League prior to last year he coached his Wolves side to pick up seven points from a possible 12.
- It is likely that Nuno will abandon his three-at-the-back system that he was wedded to at Molineux as he looks to adopt a counter-attacking 4-3-3 with the striker position as yet unknown due to the ongoing situation around Harry Kane.
MAN CITY
- Manchester City began their competitive season with a late defeat to Leicester City in the Community Shield last weekend. It was a heavily rotated side that probably put an end to Nathan Ake’s chances of being an important player this season.
- City will likely field their new £100 million signing Jack Grealish from the start of the match after his late cameo at Wembley last weekend with doubts over the fitness of both Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.

THE PREDICTION
If there was ever a time to play Manchester City this season, it would be now. The visitors come into this without several key first-teamers and a lot of players that have only just returned making their involvement in this match doubtful. Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, Kyle Walker and John Stones are five of those who had international commitments over the summer and only returned on Monday but the lack of available players means some may be forced into playing. Neither side is particularly easy to predict and both will be feeling the effects of uncertainty around their pre-season. Given that, City win or double chance is probably the safest bet for this one.
