THE LOWDOWN

TOTTENHAM

  • Tottenham have claimed a pair of dramatic late wins over the course of the last week, coming from behind against both Bournemouth and Marseille in the Premier League and Champions League respectively.
  • Antonio Conte has some decisions to make in the attacking areas with Heung-Min Son joining Richarlison on the sidelines after the South Korean suffered an eye socket injury midweek that puts his World Cup participation in doubt.

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool suffered yet another domestic setback last weekend when they lost at home to Leeds with Jurgen Klopp’s side a shadow of their former selves, although they put in a much better display midweek when they defeated Napoli – one of the best sides in Europe this season – in the Champions League.
  • James Milner is not available due to concussion protocol while Jordan Henderson is available after being kept out as a precaution midweek, and the Reds skipper could well be given a starting berth here.

THE TEAM NEWS

QUESTIONABLE: Bentancur (Injured), Kulusevski (Injured), Lucas Moura (Injured)

LIVERPOOL

PREDICTED XI (4-3-1-2): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Firmino; Salah, Darwin

UNAVAILABLE: Matip (Injured), Milner (Injured), Melo (Injured), Diaz (Injured), Jota (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Liverpool are surely one of the most unpredictable teams around right now as their last four games they have seen them lose to Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest and Leeds yet they have beaten Ajax and Napoli in the Champions League. Jurgen Klopp will be demanding that his side convert that European form into better domestic performances, and they badly need to pick up points here against one of their rivals for the European places. Spurs have shown plenty of fight lately but they have been somewhat fortunate to win their last two games and they suffered a blow midweek with the worrying injury to Heung-Min Son. They have been slow starters of late, and Liverpool will look to take advantage of that vulnerability by striking first in this encounter.

TIP: LIVERPOOL TO SCORE FIRST
