THE LOWDOWN

TOTTENHAM

  • Tottenham’s 100% Premier League record came to an end in dramatic fashion last weekend as they were beaten 3-0 by local rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, a match that saw defender Japhet Tanganga sent off for two bookable offences to compound Spurs’ misery.
  • Tanganga will now be suspended for this match, whilst boss Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperately hoping that defender Eric Dier and attacking midfielder Heung-Min Son recover from injury alongside Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura who picked up knocks in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

CHELSEA

  • A comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend took Chelsea to ten points from a possible 12 in the Premier League this season and this was backed up by a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zenit this past Tuesday in the Champions League.
  • Head Coach Thomas Tuchel has few injury problems to worry about heading into this one with midfielder N’Golo Kante now available for selection although wideman Christian Pulisic is missing with an ankle problem.

THE PREDICTION

Five matches in all competitions, four wins, one draw, ten goals scored and only one conceded (a penalty). It’s fair to say that Chelsea have picked up right where they left off last season under Tuchel as they look to continue their impressive run away at fierce rivals Tottenham. Spurs have already proved themselves at home against a top side this season having beaten Man City in their opening Premier League game of the season. However, Chelsea represents a different challenge and one that comes just three days after their Europa Conference League match away at Rennes, which may well have a physical effect on the Tottenham players. When taking into account how strong Chelsea look particularly from a defensive point of view alongside their ability to find the net at any point through the dangerous Romelu Lukaku up front, backing the Blues to at least avoid defeat in this match appears a smart play, so consider Chelsea double chance.

Tip: CHELSEA DOUBLE CHANCE
