THE LOWDOWN

SOUTHAMPTON

  • A last-gasp equaliser from the penalty spot courtesy of James Ward-Prowse saw Southampton rescue a point with a 2-2 draw away at Newcastle in their most recent match, although they are yet to taste victory in the Premier League in this campaign thus far.
  • Midfielder Stuart Armstrong is out for this one through injury, which could lead to boss Ralph Hasenhuttl naming the same side that started against the Magpies.

WEST HAM

  • West Ham will have been disappointed not to have beaten local rivals Crystal Palace last time out after being pegged back twice, but to be unbeaten heading into their fourth league match of the season represents a very good start for the Hammers.
  • New signings Kurt Zouma and Nikola Vlasic were on international duty over the past two weeks, with Vlasic finding the net for Croatia and both could come into the side here, with Zouma in particular a likely candidate to earn a starting berth.

THE PREDICTION

With ten goals scored and seven points accrued from their three Premier League games played so far, West Ham have established themselves as the early entertainers of the new campaign, playing fantastic attacking football led by the in-form Antonio, who has accrued four goals and four assists across those three matches. Such attacking prowess is likely to overwhelm a Southampton outfit that has shipped six goals over the course of their three league fixtures. The Hammers also boast an excellent recent record over Southampton, having won six of their last seven Premier League meetings with the Saints and that run is expected to continue with another three points David Moyes’ side in this one.

Tip: WEST HAM TO WIN
