THE LOWDOWN

SOUTHAMPTON

  • Southampton were indebted to a trademark James Ward-Prowse free-kick which earned them a point away at Leeds Utd last time out, but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have now not won in the Premier League since all the way back in late February.
  • Striker Armando Broja is ineligible for this one against his former club and with fellow forward Shane Long doubtful through injury, Adam Armstrong is likely to get the nod when it comes to partnering Che Adams up front.

CHELSEA

  • Following their shock collapse that led to their 1-4 loss at home to local rivals Brentford last weekend, Chelsea followed that up with defeat to Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg, which saw the Blues taken apart by the brilliant Karim Benzema.
  • Full-back Ben Chilwell remains out as well as the versatile Callum Hudson-Odoi, while there are doubts surrounding the availability of Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku.

THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTHAMPTON

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Forster; Livramento, Bednarek, Salisu, Walker-Peters; S. Armstrong, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Elyounoussi; A. Armstrong, Adams

UNAVAILABLE: Broja (Ineligible)

QUESTIONABLE: Long (Injured), Lyanco (Injured), McCarthy (Injured)

CHELSEA

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Christensen, Chalobah, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso; Pulisic, Mount; Werner

UNAVAILABLE: Chilwell (Injured), Hudson-Odoi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ziyech (Injured), Lukaku (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

A terrible week for Chelsea will likely see morale within their dressing room low. However, Thomas Tuchel is a head coach made of stern stuff and he will no doubt pick his side back up and ensure they come out of the traps flying against the Saints, who are going through an extended period of poor form, losing four of their last five in all competitions. Most worrying from the hosts’ point of view has been their defence, who have shipped 13 goals across those five fixtures and when you take into account the attacking players at Chelsea’s possible and the points that they have to proof, it doesn’t bode well for Southampton. Back Chelsea to triumph, but do so via the safety of the draw no bet market.

Tip: CHELSEA DRAW NO BET
