THE LOWDOWN

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

  • Nottingham Forest’s defeat to Tottenham last weekend made it five Premier League games without a win for Steve Cooper’s side, who are just two points above the drop zone heading into this fixture.
  • Chris Wood is ineligible to face his parent club while Brennan Johnson is a major doubt with a groin injury, so Emmanuel Dennis or Andre Ayew look set to lead the line against the Magpies.

NEWCASTLE

  • A winner from substitute Miguel Almiron handed Newcastle a much-needed victory against Wolves in their pursuit of a top-four finish, with Eddie Howe’s men registering their first win in six Premier League games.
  • Anthony Gordon’s injury is worse than first feared and he will be out until next month, while Alexander Isak – who put in an impressive display against Wolves – looks likely to retain his place up front ahead of Callum Wilson.

THE PREDICTION

Both sides aren’t exactly playing at the top of their game right now, but Newcastle managed to get their European hopes back on track with victory at Wolves last week. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle that they probably thought they had avoided. Newcastle forward Alexander Isak impressed against Wolves last time out as he came in for the misfiring Callum Wilson, and given that he is likely to start again here, it could be worth backing the Swede in the anytime goalscorer market.

TIP: ALEXANDER ISAK TO SCORE ANYTIME
