  • Nottingham Forest decided to continue signing players in the January window and added three players on deadline day; Keylor Navas, Felipe and Jonjo Shelvey. The Reds were then beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford the following day, losing 5-0 on aggregate in the EFL Cup semi-final.
  • Steve Cooper still has plenty of injuries to contend with but there could be a debut here for experienced goalkeeper Keylor Navas, while Chris Wood could start should he recover from illness.

  • Under the management of Jesse Marsch, Leeds United have put in some really enjoyable and entertaining performances. They enjoyed a 3-1 win at Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup last week before confirming the signing of US international Weston McKennie on loan from crisis club Juventus a couple of days later.
  • Mckennie is pushing for an immediate debut while there has been bad news on the injury front as Rodrigo has been ruled out for a couple of months with a foot injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-1-2): Navas; Aurier, Worrall, Boly, Lodi; Freuler, Danilo Mangala; Scarpa; Johnson, Dennis

UNAVAILABLE: Henderson (Injured), Awoniyi (Injured), Biancone (Injured), Kouyate (Injured), Yates (Illness), Niakhate (Injured), Richards (Injured), Gibbs-White (Injured)

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Meslier, Kristensen, Ayling, Wober, Struijk; Roca, Adams; Sinisterra, Aaronson, Gnonto; Bamford

QUESTIONABLE: Cooper (Injured), Adams (Injured)

Nottingham Forest are currently over-achieving as they push towards the middle-of-the-table. It could and probably should be argued that Steve Cooper is coaching his side into a relatively impressive position in spite of the business they have done, rather than because of it. Nearly 30 players have arrived at the City Ground and it could and probably should be argued less than a third have or will contribute to potential survival in the Premier League this season. Leeds United have earned credit for entertaining football but they have also been tactically naive to the point of tedium. Their frustrating capability to dominate a match but lose because of a child-like lack of defensive cohesion or organisation isn’t actually as fun or as lovable as it should be but more a consequence of trying to reinvent tactical sophistication without the foundations of which to do so. This should be quite an entertaining match on Sunday afternoon, though, and it should also be a raucous atmosphere to help that.
