THE LOWDOWN

NEWCASTLE

  • Newcastle were last in action against Wolves in which they secured a priceless 1-0 victory through a Chris Wood penalty, keeping distance between themselves and the dreaded relegation places.
  • Ryan Fraser started in that match, but the winger suffered hamstring injury which should keep him out of this one alongside the likes of Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier.

LEICESTER

  • Leicester have picked up seven points from the last nine available to them in the Premier League, balancing their league commitments well with their Europa Conference League journey, which has seen them reach the semi-final stage.
  • Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand are expected to miss out through injury, but in better news the Foxes may have Boubakary Soumare following illness.

THE TEAM NEWS

LEICESTER

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Schmeichel; Justin, Fofana, Soyuncu, Thomas; Tielemans, Mendy; Maddison, Dewsbury-Hall, Lookman; Daka

UNAVAILABLE: Bertrand (Injured), Ndidi (Injured), Vardy (Injured), Ward (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Newcastle will be hoping to catch a Leicester side perhaps fatigued after playing in Eindhoven three days previously and the likelihood is that the Magpies will assert domination on proceedings the longer this match goes on. Eddie Howe’s side have won each of their last four matches at St. James’ Park and home advantage has been a real factor in Newcastle pulling away from the relegation places. The expectation is that they are more than capable of picking up at least another point, if not all three against Leicester so back the hosts to do just that via the double chance market.

Tip: NEWCASTLE WIN/DRAW DOUBLE CHANCE
