THE LOWDOWN

MAN CITY

  • Man City had no problems in brushing aside Newcastle last Sunday, putting four goals past the Magpies without reply to extend their winning run in the Premier League to eight games and their lead at the top of the table to three points.
  • Full-back Kyle Walker did not play against Newcastle, with manager Pep Guardiola stating that he was not at full fitness with the England international now at risk of missing out once again here.

LEICESTER

  • Leicester were counting the cost of fielding a full-strength side for their midweek Carabao Cup quarter-final against Liverpool with a number of key players picking up injuries that render them serious doubts for their trip to Man City
  • Defenders Ricardo Pereira and Caglar Soyuncu alongside striker Jamie Vardy all started against the Reds and all face a race against time to be fit for this one, whilst centre-back Jonny Evans is not expected to recover in time to feature, leaving the Foxes very short in defence.

THE PREDICTION

Leicester have had just three days recovery time ahead of their Boxing Day trip to the Etihad Stadium, which does not bode well for them especially when considering their injury problems, a number of them muscle injuries likely forced by the amount of effort they put in against Liverpool. Man City however, have enjoyed a week’s rest in preparation for this one and when you consider that Guardiola’s men have racked up 11 goals across their last two Premier League games, their world-class attacking unit that boasts both creativity, direct play and cutting edge in front of goal bodes well for them against a heavily weakened Leicester backline. Therefore, Man City victory by at least two clear goals has to be favoured.

Tip: MAN CITY TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
