THE LOWDOWN

MAN CITY

  • Man City dropped their first points of the campaign last weekend when they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Newcastle where they needed to mount a comeback in order to come away with a point.
  • The champions followed that up with another 3-3 draw with Barcelona in a midweek charity match where they fielded several first-team players, with Kalvin Phillips picking up a shoulder injury while Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish are doubtful for this one.

CRYSTAL PALACE

  • Patrick Vieira can be pleased with his side’s work so far this season as their 3-1 victory over Aston Villa last week was followed up with a midweek League Cup win and in Wilfried Zaha they have an in-form asset capable of making the difference right now.
  • The Seagulls’ successful counter-attacking approach in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool a couple of weeks will be the blueprint for Vieira’s approach here, with Zaha potentially selected as the lone forward due to his pace on the counter-attack.

THE PREDICTION

Rarely do Man City drop points in consecutive Premier League games – in fact you have to go back to December 2020 to find the last time that occurred – so Crystal Palace know they could be in for a long afternoon at the Etihad. The visitors have already had some success at Anfield this season, but City look a much better team than Liverpool right now and it is difficult to see Pep Guardiola's free-scoring side experiencing the same problems. Assuming they navigate the threat posed by Wilfried Zaha, the reigning champions look good value to secure a win to nil on Saturday.

TIP: MAN CITY TO WIN TO NIL
