THE LOWDOWN
LIVERPOOL
- Liverpool secured their first Carabao Cup silverware under Jurgen Klopp this past weekend after beating Chelsea at Wembley via a long penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw, but the Reds turn their attention back to league action here following their FA Cup win over Norwich in midweek with only six points now separating them from table toppers Man City.
- An injury to Thiago in the warm-up saw the midfielder miss out in the cup final and he will miss out here too, whilst fellow midfielder Curtis Jones is another significant doubt and Joel Matip is suffering from illness.
WEST HAM
- West Ham will have been hugely disappointed to bow out of the FA Cup this past Wednesday despite fielding their strongest available side against Southampton and things don’t get any easier for them here.
- David Moyes has a lengthy injury list to deal with, although defender Aaron Cresswell has been passed fit and should feature from the start, which should prove a big boost for the visitors.
THE TEAM NEWS
LIVERPOOL
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Jota, Mane
UNAVAILABLE: Matip (Illness), Thiago (Injured), Firmino (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Jones (Injured), Keita (Injured)
WEST HAM
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Fabianski; Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Johnson, Soucek, Rice, Fornals; Bowen, Lanzini; Antonio
UNAVAILABLE: Coufal (Injured), Ogbonna (Injured), Yarmolenko (Persona reasons)
QUESTIONABLE: Noble (Injured), Soucek (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Masuaku (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
The reverse fixture between these two sides saw West Ham come out on top in a 3-2 thriller at the London Stadium and Liverpool will be out for revenge as they bid to keep the pressure on Man City. As strong as West Ham have been this season in the Premier League, facing a Liverpool team in such good form who have won each of their last six league games is a daunting task from their perspective. The Reds have racked up 18 goals across those six matches and such offensive potency should prove too strong for the visitors to cope with. Back Liverpool to emerge triumphant at Anfield.
Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
