THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool have dragged themselves to within just one point of league leaders Man City following a run of nine successive Premier League wins, conceding just two goals in the process and three points here would see them move top of the table by a margin of two points for at least a couple of hours.
  • Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in training but may not be risked so Joe Gomez could deputise at right-back, whilst midfielder Naby Keita is doubtful due to a knee problem.

WATFORD

  • A crucial 1-2 victory for Watford away at Southampton last time out has given their survival battle fresh life and an unlikely win at Anfield would draw them level on points with 17th-placed Everton.
  • Cucho Hernandez scored twice against the Saints and is expected to keep his place, alternating flanks with the fully fit Ismaila Sarr with Joao Pedro, Emmanuel Dennis and Josh King fighting for one spot in attack should Roy Hodgson stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

THE PREDICTION

Make no mistake, this is a mammoth task for Watford, who have shipped 55 goals already this season in the Premier League, with only two other teams conceding more. Against an attack of Liverpool’s quality at Anfield, this does not bode well for the Hornets. Complacency is not expected to prove a factor due to how close the current title race is and the carrot of temporarily moving top of the Premier League is sure to drive Liverpool on. When you take into account the world-class offensive talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, any outcome other than a Liverpool win by at least two clear goals against Watford would be a big surprise.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
