THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

  • After booking their spot in the final of the Champions League, Liverpool have the chance to go back to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Tottenham.
  • Joel Matip and Luis Diaz are expected to return to the starting line-up, the latter having changed the game off the bench away at Villarreal in midweek, with Roberto Firmino the only injury doubt for the Reds.

TOTTENHAM

  • Tottenham got back to winning ways against Leicester last Sunday, but with Arsenal winning later in the day away at West Ham, the Gunners currently sit two points above Spurs in the table.
  • Two full-backs in Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon are out through injury, so Emerson Royal and Ryan Sessegnon are expected to continue at right and left-wing back respectively.

THE PREDICTION

Antonio Conte is a head coach renowned for his ability to organise a very strong defence and the Tottenham backline will need to be at their very best to give themselves a chance of keeping out this relentless Liverpool machine. The Reds have won each of their last six in all competitions, scoring at least twice in five of those games and with the Anfield crowd right behind them, they’ll be expected to once again be afforded significant joy in front of goal. Spurs themselves will pose a strong offensive threat led by the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, but they face a Liverpool backline also in tremendous form. The all-round class of the hosts should prove enough for them to go on and accrue a vital three points in this one.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
