THE LOWDOWN

LEICESTER

  • After being thrashed 4-1 against West Ham, Leicester got back to winning ways away at Norwich in their third Premier League match of the season, triumphing 1-2 at Carrow Road.
  • Attacking midfielder Ayoze Perez misses out once again as he serves the second match of his three-game suspended, whilst the Foxes’ injury crisis at the back continues with up to four defenders either doubtful or unavailable for this one.

MAN CITY

  • A second successive 5-0 victory in the Premier League, this time against Arsenal represents an excellent response to defeat away at Tottenham on the opening weekend, although they have already been beaten by Leicester this season, losing 1-0 in the Community Shield.
  • It's unclear whether Pep Guardiola can call upon Brazilian internationals Ederson and Gabriel Jesus while Zack Steffen having tested positive for COVID-19 on international duty. Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne have resumed training but this match may come too soon for them.

THE PREDICTION

When taking into account Man City’s goalkeeper crisis, Leicester will fancy their chances of capitalising as they bid to secure a third win in four matches against the reigning Premier League champions in all competitions. The way Leicester play against Guardiola’s men, exploiting City’s high defensive line through the relentless pace and pressing of striker Jamie Vardy has proven successful in the past with Vardy even netting a hat-trick against them last season, although the Foxes themselves have problems of their own to deal with, specifically a backline littered with injury absences who are in for a difficult contest facing the likes of Jack Grealish and Ferran Torres with Phil Foden also likely to feature either off the bench or from the start. The expectation is that Leicester and Man City will each prioritise attack over defence here, which are their respective strong suits and this may lead to a hugely entertaining affair that sees both teams find the net, regardless of who comes out on top.
