THE LOWDOWN

LEICESTER

  • Leicester were involved in a Boxing Day thriller at the Etihad Stadium last time out, although not from their own perspective as they were beaten 6-3 away at Man City, however positives can be taken after they found themselves 4-0 at half time, responding to at least win the second half.
  • After being afforded a rest against Man City, the likelihood is that striker Jamie Vardy will return to the starting line-up for this match, although with a large number of defenders injured, it could be a long evening for the Foxes.

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool’s six-match winning streak in the Premier League came to an end following a 2-2 draw away at Tottenham just before Christmas, although Jurgen Klopp’s side will have felt a sense of injustice in that game with numerous key decisions going against them.
  • One of those decisions saw left-back Andy Robertson sent off and he will therefore be unavailable for the Reds’ trip to the King Power Stadium, with Konstantinos Tsimikas expected to deputise in his place.

THE PREDICTION

Leicester’s backline at present is extremely fragile having conceded at least twice in five of their last six Premier League games and 12 across their most recent four matches in all competitions. Against a side of Liverpool’s class going forward, this does not bode well for the hosts who are not expected to have an answer against the brilliance of the Reds’ front three. Liverpool are likely still smarting from their draw against Tottenham are it would be a big surprise if they did not take out all their frustrations on Leicester, with victory imperative following Man City and Chelsea’s wins on Boxing Day. Therefore, back the visitors to triumph here.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
