THE LOWDOWN

LEEDS UTD

  • Despite recording 22 shots away to Newcastle last Friday, Leeds Utd were held to a 1-1 draw by the Magpies, meaning that they remain without a win in this season’s Premier League.
  • The Whites are currently plagued with a number of injuries with Robin Koch Diego Llorente and Patrick Bamford all absent and Luke Ayling, Jack Harrison and Raphinha all serious doubts while Pascal Struijk is suspended.

WEST HAM

  • West Ham’s excellent start to the season continued in the Carabao Cup in midweek, as they knocked out Man Utd at Old Trafford, gaining revenge for losing 1-2 to the Reds on the previous weekend after club captain Mark Noble miss a last-minute penalty to secure a draw.
  • Only defender Ryan Fredericks is set to be unavailable for the Hammers here due to injury with striker Michail Antonio expected to be restored straight back into the starting line-up after suspension kept him out of their Premier League fixture against Man Utd.

THE PREDICTION

With no Premier League victory to their names yet this season, Leeds Utd are expected to deploy an ultra-offensive style of play against West Ham as they have always done under the reign of Marcelo Bielsa, despite their current injury worries. However, it is no coincidence that four of their five league games played so far has seen both teams to score with Leeds’ gung-ho approach leaving their backline exposed and that is likely to be the case again here, especially when taking into account the injury problems currently plaguing the hosts. With that in mind, both teams to score once again looks on the cards as whilst West Ham may struggle to cope with Leeds’ relentless high press and wave of attacks, they should certainly be afforded chances themselves with the extra space afforded to them inside the opposition half, particularly with the return of in-form forward Antonio to the Hammers’ starting XI.

Tip: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
