- After a pair of defeats in their first two games of the season, Everton really needs a win here to get their season up-and-running but their lack of potency in attack will be a concern with an own goal from former Toffee Lucas Digne being the only occasion they have found the net so far.
- Abdoulaye Doucoure will miss around three weeks of action due to a hamstring injury, which could see Amadou Onana make his first start for the club, although the returning Allan is another contender for the midfield berth if Frank Lampard deems him fit enough.
