THE LOWDOWN

EVERTON

  • A ten-minute spell of madness from Everton in the second half of their most recent Premier League game away at Aston Villa saw them ship three goals and fall to a 3-0 defeat in the West Midlands, their first loss of the new season in the Premier League.
  • The Toffees are currently dogged by injuries with a large number of key players set to miss this visit of Norwich but Jordan Pickford and Lucas Digne have trained and appear to be available for selection

NORWICH

  • A 1-3 defeat at home to Watford last weekend represented a crushing blow for head coach Daniel Farke and his Norwich side, with Farke now expected to come under pressure from Norwich fans with the Canaries having now lost 15 straight Premier League fixtures.
  • Defenders Christoph Zimmermann and Sam Byram along with winger Przemyslaw Placheta will all miss the trip to Goodison Park, as well as attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell who remains unavailable due to personal reasons.

THE TEAM NEWS

EVERTON

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne; Allan, Doucoure; Townsend, Gray, Iwobi; Rondon

UNAVAILABLE: Coleman (Injured), Delph (Injured), Gbamin (Injured), Gomes (Injured), Richarlison (Injured), Calvert-Lewin (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Pickford (Injured), Digne (Injured)

NORWICH

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Krul; Aarons, Kabak, Omobamidele, Williams; Gilmour, Rupp, McLean; Sargent, Pukki, Tzolis

UNAVAILABLE: Byram (Injured), Placheta (Illness), Zimmermann (Injured), Cantwell (Personal reasons)

QUESTIONABLE: Rashica (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Even when taking into account their vast injury list, this is a fixture where three points is the only expectation for Everton against a team with no points and rock bottom of the league table. For a long time now, Toffees fans have complained about the strength-in-depth of their squad being the reason they are not able to push on as a club, but many of those squad players have an excellent opportunity here to prove otherwise. Norwich are a team likely drained of confidence under a head coach who has simply been unable to adapt at this level of the English game and despite a significantly weakened first XI, Everton should still have more than enough quality within their team to overcome the visitors on their own ground.
