THE LOWDOWN

EVERTON

  • Frank Lampard’s Everton came a point closer to securing Premier League safety last time out against Watford, although they’ll have been disappointed to have only drawn 0-0 with the already relegated side having had the chances to win.
  • Despite Yerry Mina’s absence in midweek, the Everton defence stepped up superbly once again to record another clean sheet and Lampard is unlikely to tinker with the back five even if Ben Godfrey is passed fit.

BRENTFORD

  • A two-minute brace in the first half guaranteed Brentford’s victory over Southampton last Saturday and the Bees rubbed salt into the Saints’ wounds by making it three in the second half.
  • Only Mathias Jorgensen is definitely ruled out for the visitors, who could welcome the likes of Sergi Canos and Ethan Pinnock back into the fold, although it would be a surprise if Thomas Frank diverts from the side which so comfortably beat Southampton.

THE TEAM NEWS

QUESTIONABLE: Godfrey (Injured), van de Beek (Injured)

BRENTFORD

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Raya; Ajer, Jansson, Bech Sorensen, Henry; Jensen, Norgaard, Eriksen; Mbeumo, Toney, Wissa

THE PREDICTION

Two words that will be all the Everton players extreme confidence heading into this match, Goodison Park! On their own ground in front of their own fans who have more than played their part over the past few weeks, the Toffees have been almost unrecognisable from the side who have struggled for so long across the season. Ten points from the last 12 available to them at home is testament to that renaissance and Brentford have their work cut out for them here. The Bees are certainly not to be underestimated having won four of their most recent six league matches, but Thomas Frank’s men will not have played in such a powerful environment like Goodison Park. On the assumption that Everton maintain their incredible recent levels of performance from a defensive perspective, then they have to be favoured for what would be a victory which more than likely all-but guarantees their survival.

Tip: EVERTON TO WIN
