THE LOWDOWN

CRYSTAL PALACE

  • Crystal Palace suffered heartbreak at the Emirates Stadium this past Monday night after a last gasp equaliser by Alexandre Lacazette denied Patrick Viera’s side a famous victory away at Arsenal.
  • Dangerman Wilfried Zaha did not feature against the Gunners, but Viera will be hoping to have him back in the fold for this one, although both Eberechi Eze and Nathan Ferguson remain absent.

NEWCASTLE

  • Newcastle head to Selhurst Park under the command of interim boss Greame Jones after parting company with manager Steve Bruce through mutual consent this past week following their 2-3 defeat against Tottenham last weekend.
  • Jones isn’t likely to make many radical changes, although players such as Jamal Lewis and Ryan Fraser could come into starting contention, however defender Paul Dummett is injured and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is suspended.

THE TEAM NEWS

NEWCASTLE

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Darlow; Manquillo, Lascelles, Clark, Lewis; Hayden; Saint-Maximin, Willock, S. Longstaff, Fraser; Wilson

UNAVAILABLE: Dubravka (Injured), Dummett (Injured), Shelvey (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: Woodman (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Whilst Newcastle fans will be happy to see the back of Bruce, there is no guarantee whatsoever of a new manager boost here, with Graeme Jones simply an interim boss. Eight Premier League games without a victory suggest that the players simply are up to standard and that does not bode well for them against Crystal Palace. The Eagles will be looking to take out their frustrations on Newcastle having failed to hold on at the Emirates Stadium and assuming Zaha is back available, then the hosts have all the tools to do just that. Wait for team news to be released before making any moves, but backing the home side to come out on top looks the sensible move.

Tip: CRYSTAL PALACE TO WIN
