THE LOWDOWN

CRYSTAL PALACE

  • Crystal Palace have won just one of their last five Premier League matches and the visit of Liverpool represents an extremely difficult challenge for a side currently entrenched in midtable.
  • Wilfried Zaha remains on international duty as does Cheikhou Kouyate and both will miss out here, although forward Jordan Ayew could yet be involved against Jurgen Klopp’s side with Ghana having been knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

LIVERPOOL

  • No outcome here other than victory can be afforded for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who have lost just twice in the Premier League this season as they try keep up with the Man City juggernaut.
  • Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all remain away at the Africa Cup of Nations, although in better news Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stands a good chance of recovering from an injury sustained against Brentford which kept him out of the Carabao Cup match the Emirates Stadium.

THE PREDICTION

The last time Liverpool travelled to Selhurst Park, they emerged as 0-7 winners against Crystal Palace. Whilst a victory via such a large margin isn’t expected on this occasion, the Reds are certainly likely to dominate proceedings again over a side they comfortably defeated at Anfield earlier in the season. Whilst the visitors will have to be well aware of the pace the Eagles pose on the counter-attack in particular, an in-form Liverpool defence on the back of three consecutive clean sheets in all competitions are well-equipped to handle such a threat. Although the absence of both Salah and Mane will be felt, Liverpool still boasts enough firepower to overcome the Eagles and pick up another important three points.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
