THE LOWDOWN

CHELSEA

  • Chelsea still sit comfortably in third-place despite their surprise defeat at the hands of Arsenal last time out, the Blues conceding four goals against a Gunners, an extremely rare occurrence.
  • The unavailability of Antonio Rudiger likely played a part in Chelsea’s defensive fragility last Wednesday and the German will miss out again here while Andreas Christensen is also a big doubt.

WEST HAM

  • West Ham have accrued just a point from their last two Premier League fixtures, both of which came in the midst of their Europa League quarter-final games against Lyon, with such European nights likely having a negative effect on West Ham’s Premier League form.
  • A central defensive crisis currently engulfs the Hammers with Kurt Zouma, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna all ruled out here which could mean Declan Rice having to drop back into defence and Mark Noble coming into the midfield.

THE PREDICTION

Chelsea will no doubt still be smarting following their home defeat against Arsenal and will be expected to take their frustrations out on a West Ham side who will surely have their eyes firmly planted elsewhere, specifically that Europa League semi-final first-leg this coming Thursday. Thomas Tuchel won’t have to motivate his side here against a London rival and Chelsea are well worth backing to come out of the traps strongly against the Hammers, dominating throughout this one and proving a point by getting back to winning ways.

Tip: CHELSEA TO WIN
