THE LOWDOWN
CHELSEA
- Graham Potter is under mounting pressure as Chelsea manager with The Blues’ 2-0 loss to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend meaning they have won just four of their last 19 matches across all competitions.
- Thiago Silva will face up to six weeks on the sidelines with the injury sustained against Tottenham and Mason Mount will also miss out, while Reece James is a doubt after complaining of hamstring tightness.
LEEDS UTD
- Leeds United played well, again, but lost, again, in midweek. The Whites were knocked out of the fifth round of the FA Cup away at Fulham but their focus will be on surviving in the Premier League and they boosted their hopes with a crucial 1-0 win at home to Southampton last weekend.
- Javi Gracia was tight-lipped once again when it came to the availability of his players, but he did talk up the prospects of Georginio Rutter, who could potentially start ahead of Patrick Bamford in the striker role here.

THE PREDICTION
Graham Potter has been given a bad hand with a bloated squad lacking hierarchy and structure with little tactical identity in an attacking sense but, even with the mitigating factors, the statistics make for horrible reading. Chelsea’s 2-0 loss at Spurs last weekend keeps them sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table, having managed to score just 23 goals in 24 games. They now face a Leeds United side that will be a lot more organised and less chaotic, under the management of Javi Gracia. They may be less entertaining but more effective. Given that, as well as Chelsea’s shocking scoring form, a low-scoring encounter is expected for this one, regardless of the end match result.
