THE LOWDOWN

BURNLEY

  • Following a second successive 3-1 defeat away from home in their most recent Premier League fixture this time against Leeds Utd, Burnley find themselves still rooted inside the bottom three and firmly entrenched in the relegation dogfight.
  • Clarets fans were shaken over the course of this past week having seen main striker Chris Wood depart for relegation rivals Newcastle after the Magpies triggered his release clause and with top scorer Maxwel Cornet away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Clarets go into this match desperately light up top.

LEICESTER

  • Leicester were unable to fulfil their midweek Premier League fixture against Everton due to a mixture of injuries and Covid-19 cases, however that didn’t stop the Foxes from advancing in the FA Cup last weekend after beating Watford 4-1.
  • Four Foxes players are away at the Africa Cup of Nations, whilst the likes of Jamie Vardy, Ricardo Pereira, Wes Fofana, Jonny Evans and Ryan Bertrand are all out injured.

THE PREDICTION

Burnley have won just one Premier League match so far this season, but have proven difficult to beat at home as you would expect, having not lost in their last four league games at Turf Moor. With relegation rivals Newcastle and Watford facing off against each other at the same time, this is a huge opportunity for Sean Dyche’s men to steal a march on at least one of those two sides with victory here. When considering that Leicester are hugely depleted in numbers through a mixture of injuries and international commitments, Burnley know that provided they can keep things tight at the back against a Foxes outfit without the services of Jamie Vardy, then they stand a good chance of edging this one, with their offensive prowess from set pieces a potential route to goal for them. Consider backing the hosts to pick up three points, but for extra security, do so via the draw no bet market.

Tip: BURNLEY DRAW NO BET

*This match has since been postponed due to a mixture of injuries and positive Covid-19 cases within the Burnley squad.
