THE LOWDOWN

BRIGHTON

  • After conquering both North London sides, Man City at the Etihad Stadium proved a bridge too far for Brighton, who lost 3-0 there in midweek, but this provides ample opportunity for them to bounce back rapidly.
  • Illness could rule out Steven Alzate but Leandro Trossard stands a good chance of recovering, whilst defender Shane Duffy isn't quite ready yet and Yves Bissouma is suspended.

SOUTHAMPTON

  • Southampton will likely look to switch things around after a thoroughly disappointing performance away at Burnley this past Thursday that saw them lose 2-0, a sixth defeat across their last eight games in all competitions.
  • The Saints have no injury worries bar goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and may look to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation in a bid to put up a better fist of things on the South Coast than what they showed at Turf Moor.

THE TEAM NEWS

UNAVAILABLE: Duffy (Injured), Bissouma (Suspended), Moder (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Alzate (Illness), Trossard (Illness)

SOUTHAMPTON

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: McCarthy (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Southampton hugely disappointed against Burnley and things don’t get any easier for them here against a resurgent Brighton. Although the Seagulls were comfortably beaten by Man City, they won’t be facing an opponent of such quality here and are likely to dominate play here at home. Key as always for Brighton will be their cutting edge in front of goal and if they can take the chances they will inevitably create, then Graham Potter’s men with home advantage in their favour should get back to winning ways against the Saints.
