THE LOWDOWN

BRIGHTON

  • Brighton made it two wins from two in the Premier League last weekend, dispatching newly promoted Watford 2-0 with relative ease thanks to goals from centre-back Shane Duffy and in-form striker Neil Maupay.
  • The victory was dampened by Maupay having to be subbed off at half-time due to a shoulder injury and he may not recover in time to feature here, whilst defenders Dan Burn, Tariq Lamptey and Joel Veltman are all out alongside striker Danny Welbeck, with new signing Enock Mwepu also a doubt.

EVERTON

  • Everton were involved in thrilling 2-2 away to Leeds Utd last time out, however the Toffees will have been very disappointed not to win the game after leading twice.
  • Winger Alex Iwobi started at Elland Road, but an abductor problem may see him miss out here with Andros Townsend likely to come into the starting line-up, elsewhere James Rodriguez is also unlikely to feature for what would be the first time this season, whilst forward Moise Kean is suspended after being sent off against Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup midweek.

THE PREDICTION

Two unbeaten sides lock horns on the South Coast as Brighton host Everton. Toffees boss Rafael Benitez will have been incredibly frustrated to see his side blow the lead twice against Leeds last weekend and will likely look to prioritise defensive stability here, aware of the threat Brighton pose going forward. The Seagulls have been strong at the back, only conceded once in their opening two league games and their possession-based style of play should see them dominate the ball for most of this one. With Everton expected to maintain their discipline off the ball with an eye on counter attacking when they get the chance, this may lead to a cagey encounter. Regardless of who comes out on top, it would be no surprise to see under 2.5 goals scored.

Tip: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
