THE LOWDOWN

BRENTFORD

  • Brentford succumbed to a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Brighton last time out and things don’t get any easier for them, in fact it gets much harder as table-toppers Man City travel to West London.
  • The Bees remain without a large number of key players through a mixture of injuries and COVID-19 after Vitaly Janelt tested positive for the virus recently and he will miss out, along with central midfielder Christian Norgaard, who is suspended after accruing a fifth yellow card of the season against Brighton.

MAN CITY

  • Not only can Man City not stop winning at present, they also can’t stop scoring after putting six past Leicester on Boxing Day, meaning that Pep Guardiola’s side have now netted an extraordinary 17 goals across their last three Premier League matches.
  • Central midfielder Rodri did not feature against the Foxes after testing positive for COVID-19 and likely won’t play any part here either, whilst both defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker are extremely doubtful.

THE PREDICTION

With nine straight wins to their name in the Premier League coming into this one, Man City are looking unstoppable right now and it’s difficult to see that changing against a newly promoted Brentford side missing a large number of players for various reasons. The visitors are simply irresistible going forward with plenty of outstanding players not only dominating their starting XI, but also on the bench, with Guardiola having the luxury of being able to swap class with class should he wish to shuffle his pack following the short turnaround in games. It is expected that the league leaders will continue their rich vein of form in front of goal here and Man City to win by at least two clear goals looks very much on the cards.

Tip: MAN CITY TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
