THE LOWDOWN

ASTON VILLA

  • A really disappointing first-half performance did for Aston Villa against rivals Wolves last weekend as they were beaten 2-1 at Molineux, their third successive Premier League defeat since winning at Elland Road last month.
  • Steven Gerrard will be anxiously waiting on the status of a number of players with the likes of Lucas Digne (illness), Kourtney Hause (injury) and Danny Ings (personal reasons) all doubtful for this one.

TOTTENHAM

  • Tottenham made it three straight wins last Sunday after thrashing Newcastle 5-1, with a whopping ten goals scored over that period of time and to make things even better for Spurs, they have successfully broken into the top four after Arsenal lost 3-0 away at Crystal Palace on the following night.
  • Despite left-wing-back Sergio Reguilon being fit to play, the expectation is that Tottenham will field an unchanged side from the win over Newcastle, with Matt Doherty on the left and Emerson Royal on the right.

THE TEAM NEWS

ASTON VILLA

PREDICTED XI (4-3-1-2): Martinez; Cash, Chambers, Mings, Digne; Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey; Coutinho; Ings, Watkins

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Digne (Illness), Hause (Injured), Ings (Personal reasons)

TOTTENHAM

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Doherty; Kulusevski, Son; Kane

UNAVAILABLE: Skipp (Injured), Tanganga (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sessegnon (Fitness)

THE PREDICTION

There is an excellent feeling around Tottenham right now, with Antonio Conte having finally got a consistent tune out of his squad, who now have it in their own hands to finish in the top four. Aston Villa in contrast, are simply playing the season out at this stage with a mid-table finish all but guaranteed and another busy summer in prospect transfer-wise. The desire of Spurs is expected to be far stronger than that of a Villa team in poor form and when also factoring in the form of their Kulusevski, Kane and Son attacking trio, backing a Tottenham win at Villa Park has to be favoured.

Tip: TOTTENHAM TO WIN
