THE LOWDOWN

ASTON VILLA

  • Aston Villa remain without a win in five Premier League fixtures, but their 0-0 draw away to Leicester last time out at least represented progress for a side who have underachieved when taking into account the quality of their squad.
  • Once again, Villa are expected to be without a number of players for this game, including first-choice left-back Lucas Digne, centre-back Kortney Hause and midfielder Morgan Sanson, but Bertrand Traore is welcomed back to the fold.

NORWICH

  • Norwich’s 0-3 loss against Newcastle has all but sealed their fate in this season’s Premier League with the Canaries rooted to the bottom of the table and now a whopping ten points adrift of safety with just five games to go.
  • Attacker Josh Sargent may well play a part in this one while Lukas Rupp is available again, but players such as Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele remain absent through injury.

THE TEAM NEWS

ASTON VILLA

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Young; McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey; Buendia, Watkins, Coutinho

UNAVAILABLE: Hause (Injured), Digne (Injured), Sanson (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

NORWICH

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Krul; Byram, Gibson, Hanley, Williams; Normann, McLean; Dowell, Lees-Melou, Rashica; Pukki

UNAVAILABLE: Idah (Injured), Omobamidele (Injured), Kabak (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sargent (Injured), Zimmerman (Injured), McClean (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Aston Villa won’t stand a better chance of getting back to winning ways than here. Norwich looked resigned to their fate against Newcastle and simply do not have the quality within their squad to last the course. Steven Gerrard has plenty of work to do in the off-season when it comes to strengthening his Villa side, but whilst he is yet to work out his best starting XI, the hosts should have more than enough ability to dominate proceedings here and ultimately pick up the three points.

Tip: ASTON VILLA TO WIN
