THE LOWDOWN

ASTON VILLA

  • This past weekend saw Aston Villa gain the victory they needed to take them up to 43 points and absolutely nailed on Premier League safety, piling the pressure on Burnley in the process.
  • Philippe Coutinho was left on the bench at Turf Moor and Steven Gerrard has a tough decision to make on whether to restore the Barcelona loanee to the starting XI against his former club, thus changing a winning XI.

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to Tottenham last time out, leaving them now three points adrift of league leaders Man City with an inferior goal difference and their hopes of winning the Premier League hugely damaged.
  • Roberto Firmino could return for the Reds, who may look to rest one or two players who have now started a large number of games in a row such as Sadio Mane and/or Andy Robertson.

THE PREDICTION

Despite the FA Cup final taking place this coming weekend, minds within the Liverpool will be firmly focused on Villa Park with the Reds knowing that failure to win will all but extinguish their hopes of a second Premier League title. A strong reaction is expected from Jurgen Klopp’s side following their draw against Tottenham and although Aston Villa have home advantage in their favour, the quality of Liverpool across the pitch should see them create enough chances to overcome Steven Gerrard’s men by at least two clear goals.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
