THE LOWDOWN

ARSENAL

  • Arsenal made it nine games unbeaten in all competitions against Leicester last weekend and did so in some style, beating Brendan Rodgers’ men 0-2 away from home with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale putting in an outstanding performance in particular.
  • After such an impressive victory against the Foxes, Mikel Arteta is expected to name an unchanged side for this game even if Kieran left-back Tierney passes a late fitness test, whilst captain Granit Xhaka remains out through injury.

WATFORD

  • Watford could not back up their unlikely triumph away at Everton, as they were beaten for the second successive home match under new boss Claudio Ranieri last time out, going down 0-1 against Southampton.
  • Striker Emmanuel Dennis missed the game through suspension and should be brought back into the starting line-up by Ranieri as the Italian looks to add some extra firepower to his side.

THE PREDICTION

Watford are capable of the unexpected as they showed against Everton and Arsenal would be wise not to take them lightly if they are to extend their recent unbeaten run. However, the Gunners are currently riding the crest of wave with a young team full of confidence who are learning to express themselves on the pitch. In Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang they have a top-class striker to boot and when considering how impressive they have looked going forward in recent weeks, having racked up eight goals across their last three Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium, then it is expected that the home side’s offensive firepower should prove too much for the Hornets to handle. With that in mind, another Arsenal victory looks to be on the cards.
