THE LOWDOWN

ARSENAL

Arsenal's comfortable win at Bournemouth last weekend pulled them to within a point of Man City after the leaders slipped up against Wolves, which adds an extra layer of intrigue to this clash as the Gunners would leapfrog City with a victory.

Mikel Arteta's men lost their first game of the season on Tuesday when they were somewhat surprisingly beaten by Lens in the Champions League, but they will still be confident of qualifying from their group.

MAN CITY

The reigning champions' defeat to Wolves was certainly out of the blue, but in previous seasons their slip-ups were often in the first half the campaign, so it wasn't wholly unexpected.

Pep Guardiola's side bounced back in the Champions League on Wednesday though, overcoming Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig by three goals to one, but they left it late to claim the three points and it's clear that they are not at their absolute best right now.

THE TEAM NEWS

ARSENAL

Bukayo Saka limped off in the first half against Lens but Mikel Arteta has stated that the winger is "in contention" to feature against City, and he will be given every chance to do so.

Gabriel Martinelli's availability is unclear, but Thomas Partey was in the midweek Champions League squad and he becomes an option again.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Havertz; Saka, Jesus, Trossard

UNAVAILABLE: Timber (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Saka (Injured), Martinelli (Injured)

MAN CITY

Rodri remains suspended while John Stones is still not ready to return to action, with Kevin De Bruyne the only other player absent at present.

Bernardo Silva made his return midweek and boosts Pep Guardiola's options, with the Portuguese international capable of playing in a number of different positions.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Nunes, Kovacic; Foden, Alvarez, Doku; Haaland

UNAVAILABLE: Stones (Injured), Rodri (Suspended), De Bruyne (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

THE PREDICTION

Despite the fact they have been below-par in the last couple of weeks, Pep Guardiola will have his men fired up for this fixture against a potential title rival. They certainly have the psychological edge when it comes to Premier League meetings between the two, with Arsenal having not won a league fixture between them since 2015. The Gunners are scoring plenty of goals right now though, so regardless of who comes out on top, both teams to score looks like a reasonable bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
