THE LOWDOWN

ARSENAL

  • Arsenal failed to move back into the top four following Tottenham’s win over Newcastle as they were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace this past Monday night, a result Mikel Arteta’s men could have no complaints about having been second best the whole way through.
  • A thigh injury to midfielder Thomas Partey capped a miserable night for Arsenal, with the former Atletico man expected to be out for a significant period of time, whilst a knee injury will also keep out left-back Kieran Tierney for the foreseeable future.

BRIGHTON

  • Despite recording a whopping 31 shots on goal, Brighton could not find that elusive goal to beat rock-bottom Norwich, extending their winless run in the Premier League to 11 games, although they at least ended a losing streak of seven matches in all competitions
  • The Seagulls may have centre-back Adam Webster back for this encounter, but were dealt a crushing blow with Jakub Moder having suffered a knee injury which will keep him out for several months.

THE TEAM NEWS

ARSENAL

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Gabriel, Tavares; Lokonga, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Lacazette

UNAVAILABLE: Partey (Injured), Tierney (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Pepe (Illness), Tomiyasu (Injured)

BRIGHTON

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Gross, Bissouma, Lallana, Cucurella; Maupay, Trossard

UNAVAILABLE: Moder (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Webster (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

After having dropped out of the Champions League places following that defeat against Crystal Palace, a strong response is expected from Arsenal at the Emirates and no excuses will wash for failing to do so when taking into account Brighton’s form which has seen them slide alarmingly down the table. Goals have been nigh on impossible to come by for the Seagulls, who have netted just once in their last eight matches and whilst they will make themselves difficult to break down, Arsenal should do enough at home to eventually breakthrough the backline of Graham Potter’s side. Therefore, back the Gunners to get themselves back on track with a much-needed three points.

Tip: ARSENAL TO WIN
