THE LOWDOWN

ARSENAL

  • A last-gasp equaliser for Arsenal salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace this past Monday, a match that a one point they were leading although the result does mean that the Gunners are now six games unbeaten in all competitions.
  • Boss Mikel Arteta is sweating on the fitness of Bukayo Saka after he was forced to come off at half time through injury against the Eagles and he could be forced to miss out here alongside captain Granit Xhaka, who is out with a long-term knee injury.

ASTON VILLA

  • Aston Villa were stunned at the weekend by an incredible comeback from rivals Wolves in the final ten minutes of their encounter at Villa Park, as Dean Smith’s side saw their 2-0 lead turn into a 2-3 deficit and ultimately defeat, their second in succession.
  • Wingers Leon Bailey and Bertrand Traore are both back in training and in contention to start but may be lacking the fitness to do so but Matty Cash looks more likely be fielded from the start after recovering from a dead leg.

THE PREDICTION

The Aston Villa players will have been wounded by their loss against Wolves, but those writing off Dean Smith’s side would be wise to remember what they are capable of, as they have already shown at Old Trafford for example. This should lead to an entertaining contest with Villa unafraid to attack the Gunners, but Arsenal having shown more potency in recent games at home, scoring eight goals across their last three matches in all competitions at the Emirates Stadium. With that in mind, backing over 2.5 goals across 90 minutes looks like the right move here.

Tip: OVER 2.5 GOALS
