THE LOWDON

WEST HAM

  • Despite going behind twice, West Ham ultimately wound up 2-4 winners away at Newcastle last Sunday with a terrific showing from their extremely strong attack, striker Michail Antonio picking up where he left off last season leading the line for the Hammers with a goal and an assist, although he did miss a penalty.
  • Despite boasting the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Mark Noble, Manuel Lanzini and Issa Diop among their ranks, boss David Moyes is likely to name an unchanged starting XI with defender Arthur Masuaku the only injury doubt at present.

LEICESTER

  • Leicester enjoyed a winning start to this season’s Premier League, although they had to work very hard for it at home to Wolves, ultimately triumphing 1-0 thanks to Jamie Vardy’s goal.
  • Attacking midfielder James Maddison suffered a knock during the game that forced him to be substituted but manager Brendan Rodgers has declared that he is fine whilst centre-back Jannik Vestergaard could feature if Rodgers decides to deploy a back three against the Hammers.

QUESTIONABLE: Masuaku (Fitness)

LEICESTER

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Schmeichel; Pereira, Amartey, Soyuncu, Thomas; Ndidi, Tielemans; Perez, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy

UNAVAILABLE: Bertrand (Isolating), Evans (Injured), Fofana (Injured), Justin (Injured), Mendy (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Both West Ham and Leicester will be embarking on Europa League football later this season, but before then they clash in the Premier League. West Ham as the home team will be looking to take the fight to Leicester and deploy an offensive style of play which suits the many exciting attacking midfielders at David Moyes’ disposal. However, they must be well aware of the threat Leicester pose on the counter attack through Vardy, alongside the creativity of Youri Tielemans in midfield. It would be no surprise if the two teams cancelled each other out here, with both well aware of the quality their opponent poses going forward and a point may be well received by each, maintaining their respective unbeaten starts to the league campaign.
