West Ham proved that they are still very much in the race for a top four finish after overcoming Burnley 1-2 at Turf Moor last Monday night. The Hammers were delighted to welcome striker Michail Antonio back into the fold and he repaid them with a vital brace on his return to the side. Everton meanwhile, saw their hopes of securing European football next season dealt a blow after losing 1-2 at home to Aston Villa last weekend. With just one win from eight games in all competitions, Carlo Ancelotti’s men cannot afford anymore slip-ups if they wish to stand any chance of finishing inside the top six. Both sides desperately need victory here for similar reasons, albeit different European motivations. Whilst West Ham desire the holy grail of Champions League football next season, Everton would just be happy for a place in Europe full stop and therefore, we may be treated to an exciting encounter full of attacking intent from the two sides. This should lead to both teams finding the net, as has been the case in five of West Ham’s most recent six fixtures and four of Everton’s last six Premier League appearances.
