THE PREDICTION
Following their wins over Burnley and Fulham, it looked as though Manchester City’s poor start to the seasons was finally over, and many expected them to achieve a solid win over their rivals Manchester United in what could have been the start of a resurgence in their title charge. Instead, a dull 0-0 draw against United and a substandard 1-1 draw against West Brom days later have put City right back where they started. Luckily for Guardiola, there is a small enough gap to the top and still enough time for City to climb back up the table, although this is more so due to the hit and miss season the majority of top teams are having this year. Despite this, it is almost impossible to predict when this potential, or even inevitable, turn of form could happen with City, with a resounding victory for the Blues seeming equally as possible as a win for the inform Southampton. It’s no secret that on paper, City have the better squad and on their day it would be an easy three points for City, but this one may be too close to call.
