THE PREDICTION
The dream of top four and Champions League football next season for West Ham is still very much alive after their excellent 3-2 victory over third-placed Leicester last weekend. That was a second consecutive Premier League win for the Hammers and it was achieved without striker Michail Antonio, as Man Utd loanee Jesse Lingard bagged a brace to maintain his excellent scoring form of late. However, another tough fixture awaits away at Newcastle with the pressure on David Moyes’ side to keep up their winning run, knowing that one slip up could see the likes of Chelsea capitalise and overtake them. Steve Bruce’s Magpies need the three points for entirely different reasons as they continue their fight for survival. Currently 17th in the Premier League, an outstanding second half comeback saw them triumph 1-2 over Burnley last time out, with substitutes Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson coming off the bench and making a huge difference, the former netting both an assist and the winning goal. With Saint-Maximin and Wilson now firmly back in the fold following injury lay-offs, Newcastle will prove a hugely threatening opponent for West Ham and both teams to score has to be favoured here, as has been the case with West Ham’s most recent three fixtures along with Newcastle’s last two games.
