THE PREDICTION
Newcastle are sliding ever closer to the relegation trapdoor after a torturous 3-0 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Brighton two weeks back leaves the Magpies only two points above the bottom three. Steve Bruce’s side have not won in their last six Premier League games, picking up just three points in the process and Bruce is coming under heavy pressure by the understandably furious Newcastle supporters. Tottenham look set to capitalise on the hosts’ struggles with Jose Mourinho’s side looking to back up their respectable 0-2 win away at Aston Villa last time out. The international break has given Spurs a chance to reset and refocus after being knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in humiliating fashion less than three weeks ago. Mourinho’s men have little excuse not to get a positive result at St James’ Park when considering the turmoil, plus rumours of a falling out between Bruce and the players at Newcastle, so an away victory for Spurs does look very much on the cards.
