THE PREDICTION

Both these sides are suffering from a large number of injury absentees heading into this one as the busy Christmas period starts to take its toll on teams in the Premier League. Liverpool saw Joel Matip become their latest central defender to be ruled out indefinitely after having to come off in the Reds’ 1-1 draw at home to West Brom last time out. This leaves them desperately short in that area of the pitch and Newcastle will be looking to take advantage. It would not be a surprise if Steve Bruce’s side find the net in this one when you consider the makeshift backline Liverpool will be forced to field in this game. However, the current league leaders contain enough class going forward to still be able to pull through here and pick up their sixth straight victory against the Magpies in the Premier League.
