Man City saw their 21 game winning run come to an end this past Sunday against local rivals Man Utd. Pep Guardiola’s men never recovered from conceding an early goal via the penalty spot and ultimately went down 0-2 to the Red Devils at the Etihad Stadium. Despite the defeat being bound to have hurt the City players and particularly the supporters with local pride so important in Manchester, Guardiola’s side boast an eleven-point gap over second-placed United in the Premier League and remain in pole position to lift their fifth Premier League title. They will now look to take out their frustrations on Southampton following Sunday’s loss, although the Saints head to Manchester with some momentum having ended a nine-game winless run in the Premier League after beating Sheffield United 0-2 at the weekend. However, the overwhelming strength of the Man City squad will allow Guardiola to rotate his starting line-up as appropriate and the hosts are expected to bounce back with a comprehensive victory here by at least two clear goals.
